11/27/2023 0 Comments Blue iris raspberry pi![]() They almost never disconnect, and to my utter shock, Deepstack now has no problem at all scanning night vision images and detecting people. Even when using just the MJPEG stream from BI and not the BI integration. To my shock, the cameras now work WAAAAYYY better in HA than they did using blue iris. I use Portainer which made it easy to change this). Once the heavy lifting was done, I added all the cameras into HA using the mjpeg stream generated by MotionEye (Since I am using ME in Docker I had to open each streaming port to the container. (after the fact, I now realize I probably could have copy-pasted the camera configuration files manually instead of using the GUI and saved a lot of time) Unlike Blue Iris, there is no way (that I could find) to easily copy settings from one camera to another. Then I had to configure them one by one for motion detection, file storage/format, calling webhooks, etc. I added all of my cameras one by one using the HD RTSP streaming url. Initially I was frustrated by how long it took to set up and configure. I tried several - Shinobi, ZoneMinder, and MotionEye. ![]() In an unrelated decision, I quit using Windows and was forced to find a linux-based alternative to Blue Iris. But I figured that was the best I was going to get so I gave up on using the cameras to determine occupancy and just used them for security.įlash forward several months. It wasn't fast enough to use as a trigger for anything but security purposes. And the BI system for whatever reason took several seconds to trigger my HA webhook to scan the image. However, for whatever reason, I found that image processing to detect people basically didn't work at all in the dark (using night vision cameras). Still a lot of disconnects but not as many. At first I thought it was much better, and it was. It has been a while since I used it, but I remember constant disconnects and it being way too slow and unreliable to feed my image processing system (I use the DeepStack Object custom component by robmarkcole). Initially, I was using the Amcrest integration since all of my cameras as Amcrest. I came up with the idea a while back to use image processing in conjunction with my security cameras which I have in most rooms to determine occupancy. This makes motion sensors essentially useless. I live alone, which makes it simpler, but I have cats. I have been lazily endeavoring for months if not years to improve my home automation accuracy.
